Our Mission
Our Mission is Simple:
Assist refugees in their quest to become
self-reliant.
We Help Refugees:
Find Affordable Housing
We help refugees find and maintain housing that they can afford. Safe, clean housing is foundational to self-reliance.
Learn English
With new or improved English skills, refugees can begin to integrate into their community and find sustainable work.
Receive Cultural Training
We facilitate cultural conversations by training on how to live well in Utah Valley and embracing refugees’ cultural heritage.
Receive Job Training & Education
Mentors, tutors, and skilled teachers assist refugees, helping them prepare for job interviews, pursue education, and more.
Find Legal Aid
We help refugees find resources who can help in the process of becoming a legal citizen of the United States.
Access Medical Assistance
The American health system can be complicated. We help refugees learn how to receive needed health care.

Journey to Utah Valley
THE CRISIS
Civil war. Religious persecution. Violence, gangs, and lawlessness. All over the world, innocent people are forced to flee their home countries.
THE NUMBERS
More than 70.8 million people were forcibly displaced by violence worldwide in 2018. Most come from developing countries, where aid resources are scarce.
THE WAIT
Many refugees spend years in refugee camps, waiting for U.N. assignment.
Refugees are vetted by an additional seven U.S. government agencies before they arrive in Utah.
THE AID
Utah welcomes about 600 refugees each year.
Initially placed in the Salt Lake Valley, these refugees receive government-funded aid for eight to 24 months.
THE REFUGE
Utah Valley Refugees helps families and individuals relocate to Utah County and become self-reliant in their new community.

why utah valley?
RESOURCES
All of Utah’s refugees are initially placed in Salt Lake County, where thousands of displaced individuals and families seek aid. In Utah County, we have the resources to support refugees as they continue seeking self-reliance in their new community.
UNITY
Utah Valley was settled by refugees, and we haven’t forgotten how to treat new neighbors. Our community is unified, passionate, and courageous. We know how to show up for a friend and help them feel at home.
EDUCATION
With two universities and an army of volunteer English teachers, Utah County is a great place for refugees to learn English, develop marketable skills, and find meaningful work. Utah Valley is the place to pursue self-reliance.
Why Utah Valley?
Utah Valley Refugees partners with local volunteers and organizations to help refugee families rise above the poverty threshold.
In every way that we assist refugees, our goal is that our new neighbors become independent and entirely self-sufficient.
